Examinations Guidelines


JUNIOR SCHOOL
Classes I – V will be graded throughout the year on the basis of work done in class. Reports will be issued according to the dates given in the school calendar.


MIDDLE AND SENIOR SCHOOL
First Term : Every subject consists of 80 marks (Theory) and 20 marks for Project Work / Unit Tests.
Second Term : Every subject consists of 80 marks (Theory) and 20 marks for Project Work / Unit Tests.


The following are the subjects offered in Class IX :-
Group – I (Compulsory)
1. English 2. Second Language – Hindi Or Bengali 3. History, Civics & Geography.
Group – II
4. Mathematics AND 5.Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) OR Commercial Studies
Group – III (Choose any one)
6. Economic Applications, 7. Art. 8) Computer Applications SUPW (Compulsory)

The following are the subjects offered in Class XI :-
1. English 2. Hindi OR Bengali
3. Mathematics OR Business Studies
4.Commerce 5. Economics 6. Accounts

PROMOTION CRITERIA
Nursery & K.G. :
1. To merit promotion a child must have at least 75% attendance.
2. Assessment done throughout the year.

I – V :
1. Promotion is based on the performance of children in the Unit tests and Block tests held during the year.
2. Pass mark in each subject is 40%
3. In Class I and II a child will get promotion if he / she passes in all these 3 subjects-English, 2nd Language and Mathematics.
4. In Class III – V a child will get promotion if he/ she secures pass marks in at least 4 subjects English, 2nd Language, Mathematics and any other one subject.
5. To merit promotion a student must have at least 75% attendance.

VI – VIII :
1. Promotion is based on the performance of children in the Unit tests and Block tests held during the year.
2. A child will get promotion if he / she secures Passmark in at least five subjects English, 2nd Language, Mathematics and any other two subjects.
3. Pass mark is 40% in each subject.
4. To merit promotion a student must have at least 75% attendance.
a) The academic progress of children in the Junior and Middle School (Classes I to VIII) will be  monitored through a system of continuous evaluation in the form of Unit tests and half-yearly assessments. We seek the cooperation of the parents since the growth and development of the child is our joint responsibility.

IX – XII :
1) As per ICSE guidelines Promotion from Class IX to Class X will only be granted to those Pupils who attain the pass marks in at least five subjects including English. The pass mark is 33%. A pass grade must also be got in SUPW.
2) As per ISC guidelines the student must get 35% marks in English and any other three subjects to be promoted from Class XI to Class XII.
3) Students having less than 75% attendance will not be promoted from Class IX to Class X and from Class XI to Class XII.
4) The promotion rules stated herein are as per the guideline laid down by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations

MINIMUM ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT

Entry to ICSE (10) Examination and ISC (12) examination in the case of eligible candidates who are being entered for the first time is restricted to candidates with a minimum of 75% attendance of the working days each year of the two year course at schools affiliated to the Council.
Parents of Class IX, X, XI & XII students are requested to take note of the above rule laid down by the Council.
